CICA GOMEZ

Cica Gomez is a French ceramic artist based in Lyon whose practice lies at the intersection of art, design, and fine craftsmanship. Born into a family of artists specializing in the applied arts, she has developed, since 2013, a body of work in which porcelain becomes a language of perception, light, and quiet contemplation. Defined by refined forms, precise lines, and balanced curves, her visual vocabulary reflects both a minimalist sensibility and a profound attention to the act of making. Each piece emerges from an intimate dialogue with the material, approached not as a medium to be controlled but as an active partner in the creative process. Her glazes, composed exclusively of metal oxides, are treated like paint, allowing light to permeate the surface and reveal the subtle expressive qualities of porcelain. Balancing technical mastery with an openness to unpredictability, the firing process becomes an essential stage of transformation, where each work reaches its final presence. Through objects that exist between functional design and sculpture, Cica Gomez explores the relationship between material, perception, and emotion, inviting a quiet, contemplative experience in which simplicity becomes a source of profound sensory depth.
