KAR STUDIO
Founded by designer Steven Yeung, Kar Studio has developed a distinctive sculptural language at the intersection of contemporary design, art, and Eastern philosophy. The name “Kar” derives from the Sanskrit word karma, evoking notions of cause, effect, and transformation that deeply inform the studio’s approach.
Each creation begins with an instinctive gesture. Steven Yeung first shapes the material by hand, without preparatory drawings, allowing his emotions to guide the forms. The traces of this initial modelling are then faithfully reproduced through a lengthy production process combining digital modelling, 3D printing, and meticulous handcrafting in fiberglass. Chosen for its lightness, strength, and mineral quality reminiscent of jade, this material preserves every imprint of the original gesture.
Between functional furniture and sculpture, Kar Studio’s works are distinguished by their organic silhouettes, fluid volumes, and surfaces with an almost mineral finish. Each piece seeks to establish an emotional resonance with the viewer, transforming the object into a true vehicle for sensitivity.
Today, Kar Studio has established itself as a reference in contemporary collectible design. By combining technical innovation, artisanal craftsmanship, and formal exploration, the studio develops a body of work in which each creation transcends its function to become a sculptural presence in its own right, imbued with an emotional and timeless dimension.
