STUDIO VALUN

Founded in 2021 by Nina Petermandl, Studio VALUN develops a practice where craftsmanship, design and personal narrative converge. Emerging from a period of profound transformation experienced during the pandemic, the studio's research takes the body as its point of departure, viewing it as a site of memory, metamorphosis and vulnerability.

After training in traditional candle-making techniques, the artist developed a sculptural vocabulary rooted in the expressive qualities of wax. Entirely hand-crafted, her works exist at the intersection of functional object and contemporary sculpture. Their deliberately irregular surfaces evoke the traces left by time, motherhood and the transformations of the body.

Through this minimalist yet deeply sensitive approach, Studio VALUN creates pieces in which everyday use becomes a vehicle for reflecting on materiality, impermanence and the beauty of forms in constant evolution.
