25 Years of History

Twenty-five years of commitment to kinetic art and geometric abstraction

For twenty-five years, Espace Meyer Zafra has championed artists whose works question gaze, movement, and perception. Founded in 2000 in the heart of the Marais by Liliane Zafrani, the gallery has established itself as a reference in the field of kinetic art and geometric abstraction. Through its exhibitions, publications, and commitment to artists, it has helped discover or rediscover major creators whose research continues to influence the contemporary scene.

On the occasion of this twenty-fifth anniversary, we look back at the history of a gallery that, since its creation, has placed transmission, curiosity, and artistic excellence at the heart of its work.

The Origins

The story of Espace Meyer Zafra begins with the passion of its founder, Liliane Zafrani. After several years dedicated to international cultural exchanges, particularly through missions related to UNESCO, she opened a gallery in 2000 dedicated to artists whose works explore light, movement, and the mechanisms of perception.

Located on Rue Malher, in a Haussmann building in the Marais, the gallery quickly developed a unique identity centered on kinetic art, optical art, and geometric abstraction. From its earliest years, it distinguished itself through a demanding program and a particular focus on the history of the works and the trajectories of the artists it represents.

Defend Kinetic Art

Over the years, Meyer Zafra has strived to champion historical artists while supporting new generations of creators. The gallery has notably helped bring essential figures in kinetic art and geometric abstraction back into the limelight, while also supporting contemporary research into real movement, optical illusion, and spatial transformation.

This approach has fostered lasting relationships with institutions, public and private collections, as well as with an international network of collectors who share a fascination for works that evolve with the viewer's gaze.

A History in Motion

Twenty-five years after its opening, Espace Meyer Zafra remains true to the convictions that guided its creation: to champion unique artists, to support their development, and to foster encounters between artworks and audiences.

This history has been built through hundreds of artworks, numerous editorial projects, collaborations with institutions, but above all thanks to the artists, collectors, visitors, and friends of the gallery who have participated in this adventure.

Today, as a new chapter begins, this legacy continues to inspire the gallery and nourish its vision for the years to come.
